How Makase Works

More than software. A better way for the entire firm to work.

Makase works directly with law firm leaders, attorneys, paralegals, and administrators to understand how work moves through the firm today. We configure Makase around the firm's practice, connect the workflows surrounding each matter, train every role, roll the platform out in stages, and continue improving the system based on how the team actually works.

Your firm is more than a collection of matters.

Every inquiry, consultation, matter, task, document request, email, time entry, invoice, and payment is connected. But in many firms, the systems supporting that work are not.

Information gets entered multiple times. Tasks live in separate lists. Matter updates happen through email or chat. Billing is reviewed weeks after the work occurred. Firm leaders spend hours assembling a view of what is actually happening.

Makase connects those workflows in one operating system, then works alongside the firm to make that system useful in practice.

How Makase becomes part of the firm

  1. 01

    Understand the firm

We begin with the people doing the work. Makase meets with firm leadership, attorneys, paralegals, administrators, intake teams, billing teams, and other relevant roles to understand how the firm operates today.

We identify what is working, where information gets lost, which processes depend on individual memory, and where administrative work pulls people away from their highest-value responsibilities.

  2. 02

    Map the work

We map the lifecycle of the firm's work from the first inquiry through consultation, engagement, matter execution, billing, collections, and long-term client service.

The goal is not to force the firm into a generic template. It is to create a shared understanding of how work should move, who owns each step, and what information each person needs.

  3. 03

    Configure Makase

Makase is configured around the firm's practice areas, services, roles, matter types, billing arrangements, task structures, reporting needs, and client experience.

This creates a consistent operating foundation while preserving the professional judgment and personal service that distinguish the firm.

  4. 04

    Connect and migrate

We help the firm bring together the information and workflows currently spread across practice-management systems, CRM tools, task lists, document-storage platforms, email, chat, timekeeping, billing, and spreadsheets.

The migration plan is developed around the firm's existing systems, data quality, operational priorities, and rollout schedule. Integration and migration requirements are confirmed during implementation rather than assumed.

  5. 05

    Train every role

Makase trains people around the work they actually perform.

Firm leaders learn how to understand workload, progress, billing, collections, and operational health. Attorneys learn how to move matters forward with less administrative overhead. Paralegals and administrators receive clearer ownership, connected information, and repeatable workflows.

Training should help each person do their job more easily, not require everyone to become a software expert.

  6. 06

    Roll out in stages

The platform is introduced through a structured rollout instead of changing every matter and workflow overnight.

The firm can begin with selected teams, matter types, or stages of work, gather feedback, resolve issues, and expand from a stable operating foundation.

  7. 07

    Measure and improve

Implementation is not the end of the relationship.

Makase continues working with the firm to identify friction, improve workflows, increase adoption, strengthen reporting, and find new opportunities for Tretis Intelligence to reduce coordination and administrative work.

One connected system. A better experience for every role.

Firm leadership

See the firm clearly

Understand what is moving, what is waiting, who owns the next step, where billing stands, which invoices need attention, and where work may be slipping through the cracks.

Attorneys

Spend more time exercising judgment

Access the context surrounding each matter, communicate with the team, review work, capture time, and move matters forward without reconstructing the story across multiple systems.

Paralegals and operators

Turn knowledge into repeatable workflows

Organize the work surrounding each matter, assign clear ownership, coordinate documents and deadlines, and improve the systems the entire firm relies on.

Administrators

Work from clear priorities

Manage intake, scheduling, follow-up, billing support, client communication, and recurring processes from connected information instead of scattered requests and individual task lists.

From first inquiry to final payment

  1. Inquiry
  2. Conflict Review
  3. Consultation
  4. Engagement
  5. Matter
  6. Tasks and Documents
  7. Time and Billing
  8. Invoice
  9. Payment
  10. Reporting
  11. Ongoing Relationship

The result is better visibility and trust across the firm. People can understand what is happening, what needs attention, and how their work connects to everyone else's.

Everyone is human. Tasks get missed, information gets buried, and priorities change. A connected operating system reduces the number of things the firm has to remember manually.

Tretis Intelligence

Operational intelligence inside the flow of work

Tretis works across the connected information inside Makase to help the firm understand activity, summarize matters, prepare communications, surface priorities, and keep work moving.

Unlike a standalone AI chat tool, Tretis is designed to support the operational context surrounding the firm's work. It does not replace attorney judgment, professional responsibility, or human review.

Know what needs attention

Surface matters, tasks, billing items, follow-ups, and other work requiring review.

Understand the context

Summarize relevant activity and information without requiring the team to reconstruct it across separate tools.

Help move work forward

Support communications, task coordination, follow-up, and repeatable operational workflows.

Questions about working with Makase

Is Makase only a law practice-management system?
Makase includes the core workflows associated with running a law firm, including intake, matters, tasks, time, billing, reporting, follow-up, and client communication. It is designed as an operating system because it also connects those workflows, supports firm-wide visibility, and uses Tretis Intelligence to help coordinate the work surrounding them.
What size law firm is Makase built for?
Makase Law is currently designed primarily for firms with approximately 1 to 20 attorneys. It is particularly relevant to relationship-driven firms that want more connected operations, clearer workflows, stronger reporting, and a highly involved implementation partner.
Is Makase only for trust and estate firms?
Makase Law was originally built alongside practicing trust and estate attorneys and their teams. Its connected operating model can also support other relationship-driven law firms, subject to the firm's practice areas, workflows, and requirements.
Does Makase replace Clio, MyCase, Filevine, or other legal software?
Makase may replace several systems when a firm chooses to use it as its central operating platform. The appropriate approach depends on the firm's existing technology, practice areas, data, integrations, and operational requirements. Makase evaluates the existing environment with the firm before developing an implementation and migration plan.
How long does implementation take?
Implementation depends on the firm's size, existing systems, data, workflows, and rollout scope. Makase develops a staged implementation plan with the firm instead of using the same timeline for every organization.
Does Makase train the entire team?
Yes. Training is organized around each person's role and responsibilities. Firm leaders, attorneys, paralegals, administrators, and other team members learn the parts of Makase relevant to the work they perform.
Does Tretis replace attorneys or staff?
No. Tretis is designed to reduce administrative and coordination work, surface useful context, and support repeatable workflows. Attorneys and firm professionals remain responsible for legal judgment, professional review, client relationships, and final decisions.
Can Makase work with Google Workspace?
Makase is designed to work closely with Google Workspace tools such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Chat where supported. Specific integration and migration requirements are confirmed during implementation.
